Mediterranean cruise 2006 - Florence, Italy

Shopping, shopping, shopping. Florence had great leather goods. Got a cute little purse. But before I bought all my Christmas presents, we did manage to get some good sightseeing in. While we didn't want to spend our entire day standing in line to see the original "David" in the museum, we did get to see a replica on one of the piazzas.
And then we got a good shot of his hiney at yet another "David" statue:-)
There were a lot of other mythological statues throughout the city. This is somebody holding the head of Medusa. My sister Janet will hopefully be able to tell me who so I can correct the blog.

This is the Ponte Vecchio. Originally the sides held food shops but by the end of the 15th century the shops were assigned to goldsmiths and silversmiths.
And, of course, a beautiful old church.
